‘Social services gave Mum a whole list of conditions she had to adhere to. She wasn’t allowed to be animals anymore, under any circumstances, or they would take Ghillie away from her.’
Ghillie's Mum is a short story by Lynda Clark, winner of the 2018 Commonwealth Short Story Prize and shortlisted for the 2019 BBC National Short Story Award. The story revolves around Ghillie, who's mother has a strange condition that makes them both subject to ridicule and fear. I adapted a short section into a dramatic animation which I hope to come back to and elaborate on in the future.
